Delta 9178 SS DST Leland Kitchen Faucet Review

A traditional design, with newer features that’ll go right into an upgraded kitchen.

Because I’ve been on the kitchen remodelling and design business for years, I’ve lived through the difficulty of choosing the ideal kitchen faucet. After all, a faucet is the finishing touch needed to make a kitchen complete. And with hundreds of kitchen faucets on the market, it could really be confusing.

Among the many faucets I’ve dealt with, and on the market, Delta Faucet 9178 Leland deserves to be reviewed. It’s currently the #1 best seller on Amazon (at the time of writing) has many features that anyone can develop an instant liking for. I’ve unfolded them one by one throughout this review.

A Pleasing Design

Inspired by a teapot, Delta Faucet 9178-DST is pleasing to the eye with a stainless steel exterior. It is heavy, well-made and has a traditional touch blending in perfectly with sophistication. Ideally, it’s made for vintage-styled kitchens.

I also recommended it for households who don’t wish to upgrade their entire kitchen and this faucet stood out to be a great addition.

Unique Yet Simple To Use

The uniqueness of this faucet took me by surprise. It features a Touch20 Technology and all you need is to lightly touch anywhere on the spout or handle to turn it on or off. You’ll be especially thankful of this feature when you rush to the sink with your hands full. However, if you’re concerned about kids finding it too easy to access, you can use the handle instead.

The faucet is water-efficient too and gives you the option to choose between spray or stream by a simple toggle switch. It also features the patented MagnaTite Docking System in which a magnet keeps the spray head firmly in place. So you no longer have to worry about the spray head falling out with use and the magnet is one of the things that will never wear out.

Another feature I loved is how the valve is embedded with diamonds to seal the faucet well. This Technology guarantees a minimum of 5 million uses from the faucet. As if that isn’t enough, the spout can be rotated 360 degrees, giving you a complete sink access.

Clean With A Simple Touch

If you’ve suffered cleaning the mineral build up in your previous faucets, the good news is that you no longer have to. With this faucet, all you need is a touch of a finger to remove the mineral build up through the Touch-Clean Spray Holes.

Installation Is Easy As Far As it Goes

The faucet comes with a plate to cover 1 or 3 holes 8-in installation so that you don’t have to replace your entire kitchen sink to fit this in. This makes installation a whole lot easier. It came out easily on my experienced hands, however, if you haven’t any plumbing experience, I’d suggest using a plumber.

Warranty Speaks Volumes

The Delta Faucet 9178 Leland comes with a limited lifetime warranty which pretty much explains how confident the manufacturers are about the product. Though not transferable, the warranty covers all replacement parts and even the finish. Better still, the company strives to maintain an excellent customer support. So if anything goes wrong, a replacement part/faucet is just a phone call away.

Watch Out For

Though Delta 9178-DST is the closest thing to perfection I’ve seen, it is of course not. The retainer for the extension cord is plastic and doesn’t have the capacity to hold things together for long. However, this problem can easily be taken care of by simply using 2 zip ties to keep the retainer in place.

Another point worth mentioning is the lever that controls hot and cold water. It may be shorter than you’re used to, so could get a little tricky. But once you get a hang of it, you’ll be able to go for a moderate temperature pretty easily.

Bottom Line

If you want a faucet that’ll last, look good and serve you with extreme ease, then Delta Faucet 9178-AR-DST is worth buying. The manufacturers have adapted many patented technologies and gone to great lengths in bringing this faucet together. Check it out on Amazon if you think this is what your kitchen needs.
