Clean water is a fundamental part of living a healthy life - but not every part of the world has easy access to purified tap water. Whether you're going out on a camping trip, heading to a big picnic, or just want a better supply of purified water at home, it helps to have a high-capacity tank and filter system ready to go. Given that, is the Alexapure Pro Water Filtration System the right choice for your needs?
What Is The Alexapure Pro Water Filtration System And How Does It Work?
The Alexapure Pro Water Filtration System is a high-capacity water filter and storage unit. It's intended to be set on counters, tables, and similar places since it's far too tall to fit into most refrigerators easily.
The system consists of three main parts - the raw water holder, the filter, and the purified water holder. Each of the water chambers can hold up to 2.25 gallons, giving the unit a total capacity of 4.5 gallons. Like most filtration systems, it's entirely powered by gravity, so there's no need for electrical cords - though this also means it cannot heat the water during winter.
New units come with the filter, a non-slip rubber base ring, the upper and lower chambers, a lid, a spigot assembly, three rubber plugs, the necessary installation hardware, and instructions for use. The chambers themselves are made of stainless steel, while the filter is held in a hybrid ceramic material.
The manufacturer claims that this filtration system removes 99.9999% of impurities, with the ability to block things ranging from bacteria and heavy metals to cysts and disinfectant. Unfortunately, we could not get access to tools to test this claim for ourselves - but they do host a report from Envirotek Laboratories detailing the reduction of a wide variety of impurities.
It's worth noting that the source water conditions, seasonal water conditions, and water turbidity can affect the performance of this filter.
What Makes The Alexapure Pro Water Filtration System Unique?
The number-one thing that sets the Alexapure Pro Water Filtration System apart from its competitors is its filter. Manufacturers don't want you to think about this, but frankly, there isn't much difference in most filtration systems aside from the materials used and the quality of the filter. Water goes in, gets purified, and stays inside until you're ready to drink it - there's not much room for variety there.
Another thing that sets this unit apart is its size. It's essentially two large containers stacked on top of each other, and together, they can hold more water than many other choices. This is especially helpful if you're on a camping trip with your family and need access to a lot of fresh water.
There's one more detail you should be aware of - the filtration rate. The Alexapure Pro Water Filtration System doesn't filter water very quickly, especially the first few times you use it. The reason for this is that filtering water to its rated purity takes time - you can't push water through in a few minutes and expect to remove everything.
For this reason, some people choose to filter water at home, store it in sanitized bottles, and bring those on trips instead of the filter itself. The high level of purity is also helpful when pure water is needed for medical reasons. Don't be surprised if it takes 24 hours for its first few gallons, and even afterward, you may need to let it filter water overnight.
If the filtration rate isn't fast enough for you, don't get this product. If it's not a deal-breaker, this filter is still worth considering. It's possible to increase the flow rate by adding more filters, and the system supports up to 4 filters at once. This is expensive but highly recommended if you need a lot of purified water.
The Alexapure Pro Water Filtration System varies slightly in price based on where you get it.
We found it on sale from Amazon for $147.00, down 5% from its normal price of $155.55.
- Breakthrough new adsorption micron filter Technology eliminates 99.9999% of harmful...
- Drink up to 38,400 Ounces of water without changing filters
- Secure grip and sporty design makes transport of bottle easy
We found it at the same price from a smaller retailer called My Patriot Supply, which claimed a discount down from $249.95. Given the wide disparity in prices, we're not sure the listed savings are actually as good as this website claimed. On the other hand, MPS is listed as an official dealer on the Alexapure site.
Auguson Farms, a food storage and emergency food supply retailer, was offering it for $199.99. Given the significantly lower price on other sites, it's hard for us to recommend buying from this retailer unless you can find a great discount.
Meanwhile, Walmart was offering it for $158.99 - a little higher than Amazon, but not atrociously so. Notably, Walmart may also have it in-stock in their local stores, and getting it faster can be worth the slightly higher cost if you need it right away.
- Designed for Use with the Alexapure Pro Water Filtration System
- Removes up to 99.9999% of all heavy metals, pesticides, volatile and semi-volatile...
- Filter Capacity of up to 5,000 Gallons
Aside from the system, you should also consider the cost of additional and replacement filters. Amazon offered these for $89.99 each when we checked (discounted from $97.00), while My Patriot Supply was offering them for $77 (discounted from $119.95).
Again, we're not entirely sure what's going on with the difference in the 'base' price. As such, we think it's better to ignore all claims about percentages or amount of discounts and focus only on the price you're paying.
(Other Alexapure Pro Water Filtration System Reviews)
The Alexapure Pro Water Filtration System has a generally positive reception online.
Amazon (as usual) was the biggest source of reviews that we found, with a total score of 4.2/5 after 219 reviews. 74% of these reviews were positive, 6% were neutral, and 20% were negative. That's a higher ratio of negative reviews than we really like to see, though most of the negative reviews focused on one thing: filtration speed.
We really can't overstate how important it is to understand the unit's filtering speed before you buy it. With just the one filter, it's only functioning at 1/4 of its intended capacity, and many people aren't comfortable with the cost needed to get this unit to function at its best.
Positive reviews on Amazon tended to emphasize the purity of the water. One individual also cited that it worked well with just one filter as they were the only ones using it - if there were other people around, they'd probably have bought another filter.
Auguson Farms put it a little lower at 3.7/5 after 3 reviews. Notably, the only negative review came from someone who said they hadn't received their filter after buying it, which is more of a concern with the seller than the product itself. The other two reviews were glowing and came from customers completely satisfied with the system.
My Patriot Supply had a few more reviews, with a total score of 4.5/5 after 8 ratings. The reviews here are generally positive, with buyers citing the expectation of the system lasting for quite awhile and working in survival scenarios.
However, one review on MPS pointed out something particularly important - it's hard to see the level of water in the lower tank without physically lifting the top off. That allows air and contaminants inside, which defeats the purpose of purifying water this much. This reviewer suggested the inclusion of a glass and stainless steel sighted spigot so people can see how much purified water is available.
We agree that such a change would make for a better product. As things currently stand, the best you can do is try to measure the current rate of flow through the unit, which you can do by looking at how far down the raw water goes over a set period (preferably at least 4 hours).
How It Compares
The Alexapure Pro Water Filtration System compares surprisingly well to many other filters on the market. There are three things to consider when comparing these types of systems: capacity, purifying speed, and water quality.
Regarding capacity, the Alexapure Pro Water Filtration System holds up to four and a half gallons of water, with half of that usable at a time. That's pretty good for one person since most people only need 0.5-1 gallons per day.
Purifying speed is where this filter is at its weakest. In fact, the slow filtration speed is the primary cause of negative reviews. It's not so bad once your filter is past the slowest early runs, but even so, it's hard to say that it's "good". The only solution to this is to buy more filters, which can increase filtration speed by two to four times.

- CONVENIENT FEATURES: Choose from 3 cleaning speeds to keep air fresh and pure: Select a...
- DUAL POSITIONING AND COMPACT DESIGN: This compact air purifier can be placed vertically or...
It's worth noting that this is better than most filters. Many systems only allow one filter, so there's no way to increase the flow speed. It'll cost you to increase the flow speed, but the fact that it can be improved at all is a minor mark in this system's favor.
Finally, there's the water quality. As noted above, this filter claims to remove 99.9999% of various contaminants, which is as pure as water can realistically get. That said, be careful to avoid overdoing it. Water that's too pure will leach minerals out from your body as it passes, and that can lead to a whole host of deficiencies.
The water released by this filtration system is good for cleaning, emergency preparedness, and casual drinking throughout the day. However, if you drink a lot of it, you'll need to ensure you're getting clinically important levels of minerals like calcium, sodium, and magnesium. Consider getting a blood test to check for the level of vital nutrients in your system and adjust your diet if necessary.
What We Think
Overall, we're impressed by this filter but don't wholeheartedly recommend it. Here's why.
According to the hundreds of reviews we checked, this filter generally works as advertised. It's not very fast unless you spend a few hundred dollars on extra filters, but the water quality is good and it filters enough water to comfortably support 2-3 people at the recommended daily consumption of water.
The part that holds us back is the price. At around $150, you're only getting part of the system. You'll need to spend another $300 to get the best performance from the Alexapure Pro Water Filtration System, and that's a big investment for the occasional picnic or social event.
As such, we don't recommend buying this product unless you plan to use it on a frequent basis. Some people like to install it near their workspace and drink throughout the day, while others keep it on their counter. A few people have even chosen to create ice cubes from the filtered water, although this seems unnecessarily expensive for doing that.
Ultimately, we think that this product is a 4/5. It's not a bad system, but the slow flow speed, cost, and lack of easy ways to tell how much water is in the lower container mean it's not as good as it could be.
The exception to this is if you have a need for highly-purified water that outweighs the downsides of this product. Some people need pure water as part of their work, while others need it for medical reasons. In those situations, we'd bump up the rating to 4.5/5 - we'd still like a way of seeing how much water is in the lower section, but when the purity of the water matters, this is about as good as it gets.
Coupons And Deals
The best deal we found came from My Patriot Supply. At the time we looked, this site was offering a 4-pack of filters for $300 (actually a good deal), as well as an "Ultimate" kit with the filtration system, four filters, a stainless steel stand, a replacement parts kit, and a five-gallon water tote for $427.00. That's cheaper than buying the unit and three extra filters from Amazon, though it's only necessary if you need the faster flow rate.
